An adaptive test can present a different number from a published maximum, and employer configurations can change.

The practical conclusion is simple: reserve the full session shown in the invitation, read the on-screen rules, and do not build a pacing plan around an unofficial question count. If your version shows 24 questions and 36 minutes, the crude average is 90 seconds per question. If it presents 30, it is 72 seconds. Actual pacing should still be flexible because interactive tasks differ in workload.

Agoda recommends completing the assessment within five working days. The company says the official assessment link includes a practice test, so use that opportunity to learn the controls before starting the scored section.

Numerical questions: interpreting and manipulating business data

Numerical questions test whether you can extract the right quantities, choose the correct operation, and express the result in the required format. The difficult part is often translation rather than arithmetic.

  2. Calculate (180 / 240 = 0.75).

  4. Check the chart scale before placing the marker.

The common errors are using the quantities in reverse, stopping at 0.75 when the interface expects 75, or reading the row for another property. A disciplined candidate states the denominator before touching the calculator.

If the task instead asks for growth from 180 to 240, the calculation changes: the increase is 60, divided by the original 180, giving 33.3%. The visual numbers are the same, but the wording determines the denominator.

Deductive questions: satisfying every rule

Deductive reasoning starts with rules that are treated as true. Your job is to find the option or arrangement that must, could, or cannot satisfy them. Agoda’s analytical work makes this relevant because operational and commercial decisions often involve several simultaneous constraints.

Typical task families include schedules, rankings, seating or office layouts, assignments, and finding a date shared by several calendars. The surface can feel game-like, but the method is formal:

  1. Translate each sentence into a short constraint.
  2. Mark fixed positions and impossibilities first.
  3. Combine rules that share a person, item, or time.
  4. Test the answer options against all constraints.
  5. Reject an option as soon as one rule is violated.

Worked scheduling example

Imagine four interviews—A, B, C, and D—must occupy four consecutive slots. A is earlier than C. B must immediately follow D. C cannot be last.

Treat “D then B” as a two-item block. It can occupy slots 1–2, 2–3, or 3–4. Because C cannot be last and A must precede C, the pair A–C needs enough ordered space. Testing the D–B block in slots 1–2 leaves slots 3–4 for A and C, but C would be last, so reject it. Putting D–B in slots 2–3 leaves slots 1 and 4 for A and C, again forcing C last. Therefore D–B must occupy slots 3–4, leaving A then C in slots 1–2.

The efficient solution uses the tightest rule—the consecutive block—rather than trying all 24 permutations.

Inductive questions: finding the rule from examples

Inductive reasoning supplies examples but not the rule. You infer what changes, remains invariant, or separates one category from another. The G+ fact sheet says the inductive questions are non-verbal and use shapes and figures.

Candidate descriptions of Interactive G+ commonly include shape completion, connected-node sequences, and tasks where buttons or operations transform an object. Exact interfaces can change, so prepare the reasoning family rather than memorizing screenshots.

Suppose a sequence shows a triangle pointing up, right, down, and then a missing fourth position. At the same time, the fill alternates black, white, black, and missing.

The orientation rotates 90 degrees clockwise each step, so the missing triangle points left. The fill alternates, so it is white. Both rules must be applied. Choosing a black left-pointing triangle captures the rotation but misses the second sequence.

Real questions can contain more distracting features. The reliable method is to list candidate features, test each proposed rule against every visible example, and reject a rule with an unexplained exception.

How adaptive testing changes your strategy

On an adaptive assessment, not every candidate necessarily sees the same sequence. A difficult question can be evidence that previous performance has moved the test upward; it is not proof that you are failing. Conversely, a run of comfortable questions is not a reason to become careless.

Do not spend several minutes trying to “protect” a question simply because it looks hard. The overall result reflects a pattern of evidence. Work systematically, submit your best supported response, and preserve time for later tasks.

Avoid trying to infer the scoring algorithm while testing. There is no dependable way to know from question appearance alone what score or cutoff applies. Agoda explicitly says team cutoffs differ and does not disclose candidates’ numerical scores.

Question wording that changes the answer

Small words matter in all three reasoning families.

In numerical questions, distinguish percentage from percentage points. A rate moving from 20% to 25% rises by five percentage points but by 25 percent relative to its starting value.

In deduction, “only if” sets a necessary condition, while “if” sets a sufficient one. “Could be true” needs one valid arrangement; “must be true” needs every valid arrangement. “Except” reverses the selection target.

In induction, determine whether you are completing a sequence, identifying the odd item, or applying a transformation. The same figures can support different tasks depending on the instruction.

Underline or mentally repeat the exact target before solving. Many avoidable mistakes occur when the reasoning is sound but answers a nearby question.

A preparation method that builds speed

Begin untimed. Separate content errors from interface errors and rushing errors. For every missed problem, record the type:

What not to assume from candidate reports

Candidate reports are valuable for identifying a real format, but they are snapshots. A senior manager’s Interactive G+ invitation does not prove that a software engineer, account manager, finance graduate, or customer-service applicant receives the same test. A reported raw number answered is not an official pass mark. A difficult experience is not evidence of a particular percentile.
