Agoda uses role-specific assessments rather than one universal test. Its careers site describes a broad four-stage route—application, assessment, interview, and decision—but says the order can change. Some candidates interview before an assessment, while others skip assessment altogether. For most analytical roles, Agoda explicitly identifies an SHL assessment as the initial round. A recent senior-manager candidate identified that assessment more precisely as the SHL General Ability Interactive G+, although an invitation is the final authority for any particular vacancy.
Technical applicants can face coding or engineering tasks instead of, or in addition to, a general-ability test. Commercial, partner-development, marketing, finance, product, and People-team roles may receive cognitive, behavioral, case, presentation, or communication exercises chosen for the job. That is why two authentic Agoda invitations can describe quite different processes.
The safest preparation decision is therefore not “study every SHL test.” First identify the role family, exact assessment name, platform, deadline, and practice link in your invitation. Then prepare for the named format and the later interviews that Agoda documents for that track.
Agoda is a digital travel platform founded in 2005 and acquired by Booking Holdings in 2007. Agoda’s current corporate overview describes the company as headquartered in Singapore, operating in 25 markets, and employing more than 8,000 people. Its large Bangkok operation is especially important for recruitment: many global technology, product, analytics, marketing, finance, supply, and customer-experience roles are based there, and many advertisements offer relocation.
This background helps explain the assessment emphasis. Agoda’s own interview material repeatedly highlights data, experimentation, algorithmic decision-making, commercial judgment, and communication across international teams. Even a non-engineering applicant may therefore encounter numbers, evidence, cases, or structured problem solving.
Agoda is also clear that the process varies by team. A company-wide careers page cannot predict every stage for every vacancy. The role description, introduction email, assessment invitation, and recruiter instructions are more specific and should take priority over a candidate report from another department.
Agoda’s general careers guidance gives four stages:
The company says those stages do not always occur in that order. International candidates may begin with remote video or telephone interviews, while an in-person meeting can be arranged later. Agoda’s interview guide says interviews commonly explore technical expertise, problem solving, communication, and cultural fit. It recommends the CAR structure—Context, Action, Results—for evidence-based experience questions.
For analytical roles, Agoda publishes a much more detailed path. It starts with an assessment designed to gauge how quickly, critically, and accurately the candidate analyzes data and understands analytical concepts. A recruiter connection follows. The first interview can cover previous projects, business acumen, critical thinking, and situational analysis using SQL pseudocode, Python or R, and basic statistics. The second stage is a case interview built around a take-home scenario and limited dataset. A later stakeholder interview can add team-specific questions and mini cases before an offer decision.
That published sequence is unusually useful, but it is not a promise that every analyst vacancy will use every step. Agoda itself says team processes differ.
Agoda’s analytical-interview page names SHL but does not publish one fixed product label for every vacancy. It describes the assessment as measuring general analytical and cognitive capabilities: analyzing evidence, drawing logical conclusions, and evaluating arguments.
Several public candidate reports narrow the likely format for some management, product, and analytical vacancies. A June 2026 candidate article describes receiving the SHL General Ability Interactive G+ for a Bangkok-based senior-manager role. A Glassdoor report for a product-manager process similarly names an “SHL General Assessment Interactive Test.” These reports support Interactive G+ as a real Agoda format, but they do not prove that Agoda sends it to every applicant.
SHL’s own Verify G+ fact sheet says the assessment measures three abilities:
The SHL fact sheet gives a 36-minute allowed time and a maximum of 30 questions for the adaptive G+ product. The recent Agoda candidate reported seeing 24 questions in 36 minutes and answering 18. Those figures are not necessarily contradictory: the product is adaptive, configurations can vary, and candidates may describe the number presented rather than the formal maximum. Use the count shown in the Agoda invitation and assessment instructions.
Agoda may also use other SHL components. Its People-team article says certain roles may receive an SHL assessment focused on cognitive ability or behavioral fit. “SHL assessment” should therefore not be treated as a guarantee of G+.
For most analytical roles, Agoda says SHL is the first interview round. The system generates and grades the assessment, after which the recruiter and hiring manager review the profile and result. The company does not disclose a universal cutoff because different teams have different thresholds.
Agoda recommends completing the test within five working days, even if the automated SHL email displays a different deadline. It also says the SHL link can arrive one to two hours after the introduction email; candidates should check spam before contacting the recruitment address provided by Agoda.
An official practice test is available through the assessment link. That practice step matters because Interactive G+ tasks can require direct manipulation rather than only selecting A, B, C, or D. Learn the controls before the scored portion begins.
After submission, Agoda says candidates are redirected to a Google page. If that redirect does not happen, reopening the assessment link can show whether the test was submitted. Candidates do not need to email simply to announce completion because the system updates the recruiting team.
Agoda does not provide the numerical score. It says candidates instead receive feedback about possible areas for improvement. The hiring manager evaluates the profile and assessment together before deciding whether the next contact will be a recruiter, manager, case round, or other interview.
Analyst, strategy, supply analytics, customer-experience analytics, and related roles have the clearest published SHL route. The first screen emphasizes cognitive and analytical speed. Later rounds shift from standardized reasoning to applied business work.
Expect to explain how you frame a problem, choose a metric, validate data, and communicate a recommendation. Agoda’s published guide specifically mentions SQL pseudocode, Python or R, and statistics in the first interview. The take-home case then tests whether the candidate can extract an insight from limited data and turn it into a convincing recommendation. A final stakeholder discussion checks team fit and may add mini cases.
Preparation should cover both halves. A strong SHL score cannot replace case communication, and a polished case story does not help if the first-round assessment is not cleared.
Public product-manager reports describe SHL general-ability testing followed by recruiter questions, numerical discussion, business cases, product metrics, and commercial topics such as profitability or customer lifetime value. The exact mix depends on seniority and team.
Commercial and partner-facing jobs can put greater weight on communication, stakeholder judgment, negotiation, and the ability to use data in a commercial recommendation. Agoda’s general assessment guide states that departments use different processes, ranging from communication-skills assessments to coding tests. It would therefore be inaccurate to promise that every business-development applicant receives Interactive G+.
For these roles, read the vacancy’s success measures. If the job owns account growth, supply quality, partner performance, or conversion, be ready to work through a scenario involving competing priorities and explain the commercial trade-off. If SHL appears in the invitation, prepare the named SHL module separately.
Engineering recruitment is materially different. Public candidates have described HackerRank coding rounds containing data-structure and algorithm tasks, followed by platform or system-design discussions. One 2025 software candidate reported a recruiter screen, a two-question HackerRank stage, and a platform round two weeks later. A 2026 intern candidate also described a distinct technical assessment.
These reports show why generic Agoda SHL advice is not enough for a software vacancy. A technical applicant should inspect the invitation for a coding platform, supported languages, time limit, and execution rules. Later preparation should cover code reasoning, complexity, testing, architecture, and explaining design choices aloud. A general cognitive test may still appear for some technical or leadership vacancies, but it should not be assumed.
Agoda’s People-team recruiting article describes a recruiter screen followed, for certain roles, by an SHL assessment focused on cognitive ability or behavioral fit. Later stages vary with the position and can examine stakeholder management, functional knowledge, leadership, or a presentation.
Finance positions can combine numerical reasoning with role-specific accounting, planning, or commercial-finance questions. Marketing roles may require analytical reasoning, a case, or a portfolio-style discussion. In every function, the correct preparation target is the invitation rather than the company name alone.
Start by writing down the exact labels from the invitation. Separate the preparation into assessment mechanics, underlying skills, and later interviews.
For Interactive G+, practise numerical, deductive, and inductive reasoning. Review percentages, ratios, graph interpretation, scheduling constraints, rankings, spatial layouts, and pattern rules. Learn interactive controls through the official practice questions. Then complete timed sets and record error categories rather than only scores.
For analyst interviews, practise SQL logic without relying on an editor, explain a basic statistical choice, and work through a case from question to recommendation. For product or commercial roles, prepare metric trees, prioritization logic, and concise numerical reasoning. For engineering, use the named coding format and rehearse system-design explanation.
Finally, prepare CAR stories with measurable results. Agoda explicitly recommends the Context–Action–Results method. Keep the context short, make your personal action unmistakable, and close with an outcome or lesson relevant to the job.
No. Agoda says some roles require an assessment and others may skip it. Most analytical roles use SHL as the initial round, while technical roles may use coding assessments and other teams can use communication, behavioral, case, or role-specific exercises.
Recent candidates have reported the SHL General Ability Interactive G+ for some senior-management, product, and analytical vacancies. Agoda officially confirms SHL for most analytical roles but does not promise one product for every vacancy, so the invitation is the definitive source.
SHL’s Verify G+ fact sheet allows 36 minutes and lists a maximum of 30 adaptive questions. A 2026 Agoda candidate reported a 24-question, 36-minute version. Configuration can vary, so check the instructions displayed for your assessment.
Agoda recommends completing its analytical SHL assessment within five working days, even when the automated SHL and Agoda introduction emails display different timelines. Follow direct recruiter instructions if they specify otherwise.
Agoda says it does not disclose the specific numerical score. Candidates receive a feedback email concerning possible improvement areas, and the hiring manager reviews the assessment with the application profile.
Agoda says candidates who do not clear the assessment may apply for the same analytical role after a three-month cooling-off period. They may also apply for another suitable position, although the same cutoff can apply across analytical roles.
