Matrigma, published by Assessio, is a non-verbal matrix test used in graduate and professional hiring, especially in the Nordics. The current product is Adaptive Matrigma: up to 12 minutes, up to a minute per item, six answer choices, and item difficulty that follows your answers. The number of items you see depends on your pace; Assessio's 2017 manual for the adaptive version sets a ceiling of 40.
Classic Matrigma, with a fixed item set, is a separate product. This page is about the adaptive one.
Practising for a real assessment? The Abstract & Inductive Reasoning Practice Pack runs these question types at full length — 5 timed tests, 150 questions, a worked explanation on every one.
| Questions | Not published |
| Time | 12 minutes |
| Adaptive | Yes |
| Answer choices | 6 |
| Clock | Up to 12 minutes overall; [probable] maximum 60 seconds per item. |
A grid of figures with one missing and six alternatives. Prep material describes a 3×3 layout; Assessio's public documentation confirms the six choices and the clock but not the grid shape, so we mark it as inferred. The opening items form an easier warm-up before the adaptive selection takes over.

Assessio converts the ability estimate to a C-score from 0 to 10 (mean 5, standard deviation 2). The adaptive manual labels 0–2 below average, 3–6 average and 7–10 above average. There is no conventional wrong-answer penalty, but because the estimate is adaptive, wrong answers pull it down. What counts as a good score is set by the employer against the role's norm group.
The free test below gives ten 3×3 matrices with six choices and a minute each. It is not adaptive and the 3×3 layout is our inference from prep material, as noted above.
It varies with your pace. The adaptive version runs up to 12 minutes with up to a minute per item; Assessio's 2017 manual gives a ceiling of 40 tasks.
Scores are C-scores from 0 to 10. Assessio's manual calls 7–10 above average. Employers set their own cut-offs per role.
Not in the conventional sense, but the adaptive estimate falls when you answer wrongly, so guessing is not free.
Where a value above is marked as reported or inferred, the publisher has not confirmed it. Nothing on this page reproduces a test item.
