Cognify: Criteria's game-based cognitive test

Updated October 2026 · Format researched 4 October 2026 · Criteria Corp

Cognify is Criteria Corp's game-based alternative to its CCAT. Instead of multiple-choice questions you play short games after a tutorial for each. Criteria's current product page describes three games in about ten minutes plus tutorials; older material for the Asia-Pacific market describes a six-game battery of about twenty minutes. Which one you get depends on the employer and the region.

Because the score comes from how you play — speed, accuracy and the sequence of moves — a static question cannot represent Cognify honestly. That is why this page has no free practice test. What it has is what each game asks of you.

What a question looks like

Current three-game battery. Grid Lock: fit pieces into a grid (problem solving, spatial reasoning). Numbubbles: pop bubbles whose equations equal a target number (numerical reasoning, speeded). Proof It: find spelling and punctuation errors in text against the clock (verbal knowledge).

Older six-game battery adds Short Cuts (move a marble to a target efficiently), Resemble (rotate and reconstruct a target image) and Tally Up (pick the token group with the highest value, quickly). Individual game durations are not published.

Scoring

Criteria reports an overall percentile plus subscores for problem solving, numerical reasoning and verbal knowledge. The gameplay-to-score conversion and any error penalties are unpublished. Criteria's report guide labels the 80th percentile and above as above average; it is not a pass mark.

How to prepare

What our free test matches — and what it does not

No free test on this page. Our spatial reasoning and abstract reasoning free tests practise the underlying reasoning behind Grid Lock and Resemble; nothing we can build practises Numbubbles, Proof It or the games' timing.

Frequently asked questions

How long is Cognify?

About ten minutes plus tutorials on the current three-game version; about twenty on the older six-game battery.

Can you practise Cognify?

You can practise the reasoning and the arithmetic. The game interaction itself only exists inside the test; be suspicious of anything sold as a Cognify simulator.

What is a good Cognify score?

Criteria's own guide calls the 80th percentile and above above average. Employers set their own thresholds.
