One target and four candidates, exactly one of which is the same object turned. Among the rest is a mirrored copy, which is never the same object however far you rotate it. That is the distinction the question type exists to test.
A figure goes in, labelled operators act on it, a figure comes out. Harder items chain two operators, where applying them in the wrong order produces a different and very plausible answer.
These are original TestSolve questions, generated rather than written. A rule is chosen first — rotate ninety degrees, cycle the fill, gain a side — and the figures are derived from it. The answer is what that same rule produces applied once more, so a question and its answer cannot disagree.
The wrong options are not filler either. Each is the result of a specific misreading: the rule carried one step too far, the right rule with one attribute changed as well, two operators applied in the wrong order, a reflection where a rotation was wanted. The explanation names which mistake each option represents, so a wrong answer tells you something.
Every option set is also checked to be visibly different. A square rotated ninety degrees is the same picture as the square you started with, and an early build shipped items where two options were indistinguishable for exactly that reason. Rotation is now compared against each shape’s own symmetry.
